Shodhyatra is a form of communication in the process of concept building of grassroots innovation. It provides a platform for a different group of people to discuss the knowledge and gathering information for grassroots innovation. The shodhyatra communication model is a form of public engagement in the larger context of grassroots innovation. Understanding of shodhyatra defines grassroots innovation as mixed knowledge in term of science communication. The combined knowledge of indigenous knowledge, traditional knowledge, grassroots science and pseudo-science makes the grassroots innovation complete. These all production process of grassroots innovation knowledge is termed as informal settings in communication. Such knowledge to communicate among the people means to communicate science or non-science for better understanding of the informal sector. The paper defines three stages of shodhyatra in the form of communication model call pre-shodhyatra, shodhyatra and post-shodhyatra. It is also defining grassroots innovation as a form of different knowledge which also can be communicated through science communication. Science communication needs the understanding of knowledge and public engagement of constructing the ‘grassroots innovation’ knowledge. Shodhyatra is the engagement space for diverse people in the process of emerging knowledge.
